They needed the ability to create reports for all elapsed months in the fiscal year accurately on a timely basis after month end.
The Challenge: This customer used SAS Activity-Based Management (ABM) for critical management reports. The ability to create reports for all elapsed months in the fiscal year accurately on a timely basis after month end was important to the success of the solution. Given the importance of performance, the customer wished to upgrade to SAS Cost and Profitability Management (CPM). The purpose was to take advantage of the in-memory computation engine, assignment of costs to big data files using business rules, increased automation using SAS DI Studio, and ability to create scenarios and to analyze cost information using SAS Visual Analytics.
The Solution: The move to SAS CPM was completed in two parts. The first involved the install of the SAS CPM software, and the migration of the data files and model to CPM. Once this was stable and functioning correctly, the second step was to enhance the model using the new functionality in SAS CPM. This included using the N module architecture and business rules to increase cost traceability and visibility.
